We’re currently looking for Support Workers to join us and provide core support for people with learning disabilities. These roles are offered on a full, part and casual basis with hours available over a seven day, 24 hour rota.

The Role

As a Support Worker, you will work as part of a team to provide assistance to four ladies with learning disabilities and complex needs.

Delivering person-centred support, you will ensure that respect, dignity and choice are at the heart of the support you offer and you enable the ladies to enjoy their home and local communication.

Daily support will include personal care, meal preparation, home support and leisure and social activities.

The service operates on a 24 hour, 365 days basis and, as such, you will need to be flexible to work as the service requires, including mornings, daytime, evenings and weekends.

Additionally, you will:

- Work with support plans that are tailored to each individuals’ likes and dislikes
- Engage in meaningful activities in everyday life and access the community
- Promote independence and maintain life skills
- Motivate individuals to achieve their goals
- Build strong relationships whilst maintaining solid family connections.

About You

- To be patient, friendly and understanding

- A positive and resilient attitude

Being female is deemed to be a genuine occupational requirement due to the personal care nature of the roles. As such, only female applicants will be progressed.

Experience is desirable but not required as full training will be provided. A full driving licence would also be an advantage.

Your Role

As a Support Worker, you will be working as part of a small team providing a consistent approach who are determined to work through the ‘No’. You will be able to look beyond the difficulties Charleigh experiences to provide exciting and highly engaging support.

You’ll help to provide boundaries and goals that may take her beyond her comfort zone and push her to achieve basic life skills and engage in meaningful activities and a range of social and leisure opportunities.

Things that are important to Charleigh include her family and friends – she has a close family and circle of friends and a great social life and it is important she is supported to maintain this.

Charleigh also enjoys going for a drive, or on buses and trains – often with the hope of a pub lunch and the opportunity to watch the world pass by. Charleigh loves water – she goes swimming and enjoys the opportunity to paddle in the sea or feel the sand between her toes. Music and dancing is another favourite and the sillier the dance the better. Charleigh also really enjoys rollercoasters and watching YouTube clips of these and of babies too.

Charleigh has recently moved to her own flat and is enjoying making this her own. She has come a long way already and it has been identified it is important to Charleigh to have staff she likes and trusts, who won’t let her down and who understand the challenges of life with anxiety and the impact this can have on daily life.

We are looking for people who truly want to make a difference and provide truly outstanding and innovative support so Charleigh can reach her full potential.

About You

To be considered as a Support Worker, you will need:

- Experience of supporting people who have a learning disability, autism, anxiety and who may present with behavioural difficulties arising from their condition
- Experience of supporting people who have communication difficulties and use Makaton as their primary form of communication
- To be good humoured and resilient

- To be down to earth outlook and not take yourself too seriously
- An understanding of the challenges of life with anxiety and the impact this can have on daily life
- Good communication skills

Working on rota, and reporting to the Practice Leader, you will be responsible for ensuring the service consistently meets internal and external quality standards. In addition, you will be responsible for supervising and appraising Support Workers, collating daily and weekly records into our online support planning and recording system, ensuring all staff are aware of support outcomes and are consistently working with the people we support to achieve them.

This is a 24 hour, 365 days per year service and you will need to be flexible to work as the service requires, including mornings, daytime, weekends and sleep duties.

Preferably you will have experience of providing services for people living with an acquired brain injury and risk management, familiarity with supervising a team, and a current working knowledge of CQC regulations would be advantageous (but not essential for a person with the right attitude, values and aptitude). Driving licence essential for this vacancy.

The Role

As a Practice Leader, you will support the delivery of our Supported Living service in Plymouth.

Working with the Registered Manager, you will:

- Train team members and ensure they have the skills to deliver an exceptional service
- Support continuous improvement initiatives

About You

To join us as a Practice Leader, you will need:

- Experience of providing services for people with learning disabilities and autism
- Familiarity with supervising a team
- A recognised care qualification, such as an NVQ Level 3 in Social Care
- A full driving licence and access to a vehicle

Knowledge of current CQC regulations would be beneficial.

About Us

Working across Devon and Cornwall, Havencare Homes and Support Limited is a forward-thinking charity that provides social care services for people with learning disabilities and autism.

Offering supported living and residential care services, we use a range of approaches to empower individuals, help them to be as independent as possible and nurture their potential with dignity and respect.

We’re currently looking for Support Workers to join us in Plymouth and provide core support for people with learning disabilities, mental health needs, autism and complex needs. We’ve got various hours and shifts available, so we’ll be able to help you meet your working requirements.

The Role

As a Support Worker, you will work with one of several teams across Plymouth, providing inspirational support and guidance to the individuals we work with and their support networks.

Specifically, you will:

- Utilise tailored support plans
- Support people to engage in meaningful activities
- Promote independence and life skills
- Motivate and support individuals to achieve their goals
- Build strong relationships and help to maintain solid family connections
- Play a key part in delivering outcome-focused support plans

About You

To join us as a Support Worker, you will need:

- To be patient, friendly and understanding
- Good communication skills
- The ability to follow instructions and support plans

Experience is desirable but not required as full training will be provided. A full driving licence would also be an advantage.

Other organisations may call these roles Trainee Support Worker, Junior Support Worker, Support Hub Co-ordinator, Residential Care Worker, Social Care Worker, or Trainee Social Care Worker.
