This is an exciting and rare opportunity to join a specialist Charity.

A small residential service with big ideas needs a new team leader to support the CQC registered manager turn our ‘Good’ CQC rating into OUTSTANDING.

There are 10 incredible people who call the service home, who need a person with unwavering values of Transparency, Engagement and Quality, to understand their specific needs, and be a Team Leader of Positive Behaviour Support (PBS)- training can be given.

You will be focussed on developing skills and increasing quality of life, encouraging positive risk taking to help people achieve their dreams. You will be motivated, resilient, radiate positivity and will be able to lead change by directing, role-modelling and influencing others. You and the dedicated team will buy-in to your ethos as you demonstrate outstanding practice and you will earn respect with fairness, consistency, empathy and, above all else, demonstrating a truly Person-Centred Approach.

You will understand the importance of working co-productively with the people being supported, their families and advocates, and a multi-disciplinary team of professionals across health and adult social care to ensure people receive the outstanding care to which they are entitled.

You will support the CQC Registered Manager, with compliance and demonstrating outstanding practice across all Key Lines of Enquiry. You will have opportunities to feed into the Charity’s organisational practice, sharing your big ideas that could benefit all people we support and all people with learning disabilities and autism.

As Team Leader you will support the Registered Manager to role-model outstanding support, whilst also supporting with management duties such as: rota planning, appraisals & supervisions, risk assessments, support planning and co-ordinating the regular training of your team. You will be able to use your IT skills to effectively use basic systems designed for crucial reporting. You will demonstrate your ability to plan, do, and review support on an outcomes focused pathway.

You will be experienced in providing services for people with learning disabilities and autism, it would be beneficial to hold current working knowledge of CQC regulations.

This is a 24 hour, 365 days per year service and you will need to be flexible to work as the service requires.

Essential for the role:
• experience of working in services with adults with learning disabilities.
• Full UK driver’s licence and have use of a car.
• This post is subject to an enhanced DBS check, Eligibility to Work in the UK and two references.

The Role

As a Team Leader, you will ensure that a high level of support is delivered to our client, a gentleman named Michael.

Currently, Michael is in hospital in Taunton and is moving back to Cornwall to be closer to his family. It’s envisaged that he will be moving into his new home in December 2020 and he’d like to start building relationships with his support team prior to the move.

Michael has a severe learning difficulty, mental health needs and autism, and may display behaviours of concern when anxious. He enjoys being active and likes sports, and he is seeking support staff who share his interests.

Reporting to the Practice Leader, you will ensure that our care service is delivered in line with internal and external quality standards. You will supervise and appraise Support Workers and collate records for our online support planning and recording system.

This is a full-time role, working 37.5 hours per week plus sleep-in duties. You will need to be flexible to work as the service requires (which will include morning, daytime and weekend work).

About You

To join us as a Team Leader, you’ll need:

- Previous experience as a Support Worker or similar
- A full driving licence
- To be patient, friendly and understanding
- Good communication skills
- A positive and resilient attitude

Preferably, you will have experience of providing services for people living with a learning disability and risk management, familiarity with supervising a team, and a current working knowledge of CQC regulations (however, this is not essential for a person with the right attitude, values and aptitude).

The Role

As a Team Leader - you will lead and a team delivering 1:1 support and core background support within a shared hub for 8 individuals living in their own flats with access to a support hub.

In this role, you will play an important part in developing and delivering innovative person-centred services. You will ensure that the service consistently meets internal and external quality standards through the effective management of a team of Support Workers. In addition, you will be responsible for supervising the team so experience of supervisions and appraisals is essential.

You will collate and audit daily, weekly, and monthly records into our online support planning and ensure compliancy. You will ensure that all staff are aware of support outcomes and are consistently working with the people we support to achieve

As part of your role, you will be required to undertake some travel to attend external meetings.

About You

- Experience of supporting and providing services for individuals with learning disabilities, physical disabilities and be able to work in a way that is truly person centred
- A driving licence and access to your own vehicle
